A Year of Nostalgia is a year long exhibition and events program taking place in two villages in rural Lincolnshire, running from summer 2018 to spring 2019. The four artists involved have been asked to create work for the Broadcaster noticeboards in Wellingore and Waddington, changing seasonally. Each artist will also host a Night at the Chapel event during their season at the converted chapel in Wellingore, where one of the noticeboards is located.

Nia Fekri (summer 2018), Anna Metzger (autumn 2018), Lulu Alyahya (winter 2018) and Sally Plowman (spring 2019) are the artists involved.

Inherent in the rural setting lies a romantic idea of the English countryside, a sentimentality, and a nostalgic desire for seclusion and nature – no matter if this longing is founded in experience or not. The noticeboard format acts as a bedroom pin-board, a storage unit for memories, a public declaration of yearning. Over the year, each artist will explore these feelings through the boards, and bring the community together through the four Night at the Chapel events.

A Year of Nostalgia is curated by Sally Plowman
